Need Help Purchasing A Corner Sofa?

August 23rd, 2010

There are quite a few options available to you right now if you are interested in purchasing a corner sofa. It has happened that the salesperson will attempt to use all their sales techniques to persuade you in the direction of a sofa or other item of furniture that does not really fill your need. The decision on which piece of furniture you eventually buy needs to be based on your seating requirements and the overall design of your home to make sure that you’ll be happy with this purchase for a long time. Shoppers sometimes get swept up in the moment once they reach the furniture superstore so be careful to plan ahead before you leave home for the many issues you need to keep in mind such as the measurements of the room that the sofa is going to occupy, what your seating needs are, and your total budget for this purchase. This article is going to cover those things in greater detail.

When you get to the showroom try to remember that this is a huge building and even a large corner sofa will of course appear tiny in this environment. So when you see a small corner sofa in the superstore you may think that this sofa is actually too small to meet your needs. Test the sofa, sit on it, count the number of people that you think would reasonably fit onto the sofa and decide whether or not it actually can meet the needs that you have. Small sofas are going to appear very tiny on the furniture showroom floor but you don’t live in a furniture showroom so that piece of furniture is going to seem larger in your home than it does at that store.

If your new corner sofa is going into a large room then there is no problem with buying a large corner sofa. This might even be the preference if you need to use the sofa in such a manner that it sections off an area of the room to give it a more intimate environment. But if you are thinking about corner sofas for the purpose of putting it into a small room then a large corner sofa is going to be out of the question. You would need to get a small corner sofa if you intend to place it so that it opposes a corner and makes the room, squared off. If you place a small corner sofa so that it’s actually in a corner that will really increase the usable space of your room while still giving you plenty of seating area.

When it comes to your budget for buying this corner sofa, keep in mind that you’re going to have this piece of furniture for a very long time so don’t let sticker shock set in. This is one purchase that I recommend you not let the sticker price be the determining factor in the buying decision. I recommend purchasing the best piece of furniture that you can afford without breaking the bank. Do take advantage of the no interest payment plans that these places offer it you are in a stable employment situation.

Corner Sofas Are A Great Addition To Your Living Room

July 22nd, 2010

If you have limited space, have lots of company, or enjoy lounging around while you read, talk, or watch television, look into purchasing a living room corner sofa. They are becoming more fashionable all the time!

Unlike the sectional sofas of the old days, you will find a tremendous selection of styles, sizes, possible combinations, and fabrics to choose from. Depending on where and how you buy and the fabrics you choose, you can go from a truly inexpensive corner sofa to something pricey and luxurious.

Having a corner sofa in your living room is advantageous in several ways. Yes, it can get seating for lots of people into a compact, wall hugging space, and still leave you plenty of walk area and an uncluttered feeling. But it can also be used as a temporary bedroom, if you have a sofa bed in it…without looking like one.

If your room hasn’t got enough floor space to have a large easy chair and ottoman, or a recliner, or a rocking chair, guess what? All of these things are available in your sectional pieces…with the advantage that they do not take up the floor space unless you are using that option!

But don’t think that living room corner sofas are only good for small rooms. They can also be used in very large rooms to eke out a conversation grouping, define the usage of space, or to visually divide a room. For example:

1) Use a three seat section, a corner and a single section, backed into a corner. Then reverse it with a single section, a corner, and a three seat section facing the other one, and you have a wonderful, cozy conversation grouping. All you need to add is a coffee table and an area rug in the middle!

2) If you have an open dining room at one end of your living room, or a dining “L” you can separate the areas with your corner sofa, by backing it up to the dining table. Make sure you leave plenty of walking space behind a the sofa…with room to back a chair up and not hit it!

It is a good idea to avoid corner sectional sofas that are permanently connected. Better to have loose sections that can easily be moved, fit through doorways, and can be brought around corners for easy delivery. And think carefully about how you want to use the sofa.

If more than one person will be watching television at a time, do they both prefer to lay down? If so, you need two long sections, or one three-seater and a lounge section on the other side. Do you always like to have a beverage at your side? A small table section with glass holders should figure into your plan. If you prefer to sit up, but want your legs elevated, the pop up foot rest is what you need. All of this is available in living room corner sofas!

A few things need to be remembered. You get what you pay for, so it is wise to buy the best quality that you can afford. It will last longer. If you have kids and pets, sturdy build and tough fabrics are a must! And don’t forget that what appears small and compact in a large, high-ceilinged showroom, can be massive looking in your living room. Measure your space before you order your corner sofa!

Corner Sofas For Small Rooms

June 21st, 2010

The size of your room makes a difference when you are considering what type of sofa to purchase. Sofas come in many styles and sizes, as well as different coverings. If you have a large room your options are fairly wide open. Feel free to purchase a large corner sofa and know that you can set it up in a number of different ways to meet your needs.

When looking for corner sofas for small rooms, though, you will obviously want to stay away from the full corner sofa and consider instead the section corner sofa or sectional corner sofa. These types of sofas will offer you freedom in configuration of the sofa to meet your needs without overwhelming your room. There should be adequate space left to add accessories that will grace corner sofa.

Comfort is one of the main reasons for purchasing a full corner sofa. These sofas offer plenty of surface area on which to lounge and relax. Also with a large leather corner sofa it is quite easy to host large numbers of guests. One of the benefits to the leather corner sofa is that when hosting these guests you need not worry about spills as much as you would with a fabric covered sofa.

If someone spills something on your sofa you would simply wipe off the mess with a cloth and then wipe the area with a cloth dampened in leather cleaner and in a few minutes your sofa will be dry and ready to use. With a fabric sofa, the spill would likely soak into the fabric and leave a wet spot for several hours.
